Law Firms and Parental Leave

Thursday March 27, 2008

The Above the Law blog’s recent survey of parental leave policies at the nation’s largest law firms reveals that most firms offer generous paid maternity leave policies but significantly shorter paid paternity leaves. The majority of firms (about three-fifths) offer 12 weeks of paid maternity leave while another 17% of respondents reported a generous 18-week paid leave policy. According to the survey, only 4 law firms offer less than 12 weeks of paid maternity leave.

The paternity leave survey reveals shorter paid leaves for men, ranging from one week to twelve weeks. The majority of firms offer 4 weeks of paid leave, according to the survey’s 650 respondents.

How does your firm's parental leave policy stack up?
