Virtual Assistants for Lawyers

Monday May 19, 2008

A new breed of outsourcing in the legal profession has emerged in the form of virtual assistants. Virtual assistants are independent paralegal and legal administrative entrepreneurs who use the Internet and emerging technologies to assist attorneys. Since virtual assistants work offsite offering their services on a contractual basis, they eliminate the overhead associated with conventional office support. Services offered by virtual assistants include:

  • Performing computerized legal research
  • Assisting in completing substantive legal tasks
  • Preparing billing invoices
  • Performing administrative office tasks
  • Providing support for pro bono and volunteer activities

Review this article in Law Practice Today for more information on the role of virtual assistants in the legal profession.
