Obama Pledges to Create Jobs
U.S. President Barack Obama has pledged to create jobs in his first radio/web address since his inauguration. Obama's economic team has announced an $820 billion economic stimulus package with a goal of creating millions of new jobs in America to help boost a troubled economy.
The United States shed 17,000 jobs a day in the last month of 2008 to cap off a year that saw 2.6 million workers lose their jobs in the nation’s worst unemployment blight since the end of the Second World War. 7,000 of those jobs were in the legal services industry and included attorneys, paralegals and other legal staff.
The president is calling for the plan to be passed by Congress and at his desk for signing by February 16, which is President's Day.
Will Obama’s economic stimulus package breathe new life into a troubled economy? Only time will tell.
