Definition:
The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure are a body of procedural rules which govern all civil actions in U.S. District Courts. There rules were promulgated by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1938 under power granted by Congress, and amended many times since their enactment. Most states have modeled their own rules of civil procedure from the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
